I have been learning about different types of breath work exercises and practices for over 30 years, and am always interested in learning more and sharing what I have already learned.
For me it began with the first Body Electric School class where I was taught the “Big Draw” breath (also known as the “Clench & Hold” with Barbara Carrellas). This is still one of my favorite “big finish breaths” and can create remarkably ecstatic altered states.
More recently, I took a 15hr Breath Coaching certification course through the YOGABODY Teacher’s College and learned a lot about what is actually happening in the body during some of the various breath practices. This was a fantastic course that taught me how to teach others about the benefits of the 3 different categories of breath work – Water, Whiskey & Coffee.
I find it so amazing that just by altering the way you are breathing, you can have a direct effect on your mood, your energy level, nervous system and even your blood chemistry! There are various easy to to learn practices that only take a few minutes of your time and can help you: manage stress, anxiety, & overwhelm, lower your blood pressure, improve digestion, reduce insomnia & even manage symptoms of respiratory conditions like asthma.
